 Igbos  in general believe that a man should be able fight his aggressors to the best of his abilities. A man is complete when he can effectively and  efficiently handle trying situations.   In the olden days great wrestlers are the pride of the  town. Umuakagu as a community  of true Igbo people have been organizing great wrestling matches among it neighboring communities.Names like  Donatus Duru, Mmaduakolam Amucha Cletus Nzeduru, Pius  Onwudinwe ,Amadikwa Igwe and a host of others  bring  back those nostalgic memories of  childhood we all miss . Wrestling is a great combative  sport that keeps one in great shape that  is why it  still plays  great part in the Olympic games till today seeing many individuals winning medals for their countries.
It beats my imagination how we have made this great sport to go into oblivion  in our various communities, It  high time we revived our great traditional wrestling,

Stockfish. How did Stockfish first arrive on Nigerian shores?

Stockfish which is a type well dried  fish that mostly comes from the Scandinavian countries especially Norway

 It dried nature means that stockfish can last for years – and that made it perfect to be used as food for the West African people enslaved and sent on long sea voyages to the Americas during the slave era , says Norwegian historian Frank Jensen.

They said history of stock fish can be traced the Biafran civil war in Nigeria 50 years ago that really set the scene for stockfish to become a must-have ingredient in Nigerian cuisine.

During  the course of three bloody years, it was estimated that more than a million people died – mostly from hunger. It was a humanitarian crisis on an unprecedented scale, and churches and relief agencies from all over the world joined together to fly in emergency supplies. Norway’s contribution was stockfish.

It doesn’t need refrigeration and it is full of protein and vitamins . it  was a perfect combination to combat kwashiorkor, the malnutrition that characterised the Biafran war.

Now, finally, it has become a household name due to  the  flavour it brings to many Nigeria dishes especially  egusi or melon seed soup.

Fifty years on, stockfish has turned from an emergency, life-saving ration into a staple food – and a key part of Nigerian culinary identity

A Young man suspected to be killed by his Python Pet

A young and  experienced snake handler was found  to be dead in his bedroom just inches away from his pet , a yellow Python .

 The deseased ,Dan Brandon, 31 is to have suffered  from serious injuries and died at his home in Hampshire, where he lived with his parents and  various exotic pets.

One of his snakes, which can grow up to an incredible 25ft, was found slivering near his body, after seemingly escaping from its pen.Though Investigations are still going to ascertain the cause of his death .
