Igbo Traditional Marriage
Traditional marriage custom is one of the most regarded and also colorful of the customs in Igbo land. Marriage is seen as a great accomplishment. A person may be very educated , wealthy or acquired much fame but if he is not married, there wouldn't be much respect accorded to him.Wives can often be a pride to a man and is not unusual to hear men in the olden days of boasting of how many wives they have.The last scene of litany of ceremonies culminates to the IHE NRISA,literally it means feasting on a very large scale.
